It Ain't Rocket Science

I have been a manager a looooong time, over 17 years and during that time I would like to think I have learned a few things along the way. One of my motto's I try to live by is "take care of those that take care of you".

If you apply this to your daily goal your team will have great respect for you and will bend over backwards to help you succeed.

Columbia, SC

Man I didn't realize it had been so long since my last post which goes to show you that I have been pretty busy. Over the past month or so I have been traveling quite a bit back and forth to Columbia, SC to get some thing str8 at our facility there. I don't know that they are where they need to be but only time will tell. While in Columbia I usually stay at a Holiday Inn Express so i can earn my rewards points but this past trip I stayed at the Comfort Suites where i place my team members when they go. To say the least I have now signed up on their rewards program because that place was sweet. They had a hot breakfast each morning with eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, etc. You gotta love that but here is the kicker....each evening they had 'social hour' which included free wine and beer. Yes you read that right FREE BEER! I am not a big drinker but I do enjoy a nice cold beer every once in awhile and being able to walk into your hotel after working all day, sit, relax, and grab a beer ain't half bad. Oh yeah and they had a light dinner each night which included pork loin, London Broil, beef stew, mixed veggies, etc.

While in Columbia I met a coach Hampton University that was down visiting some recruits for the upcoming football season. I also met one of the local high school coaches that has some highly recruited athletes on their team. It was cool to sit around and listen to them talk about the process and how various coaches conduct visits. I really feel like I learned a lot just by listening to them. Overall good trip.
