Not OK to walk?

I was driving this morning and got behind a school bus, no big deal. Here is my question are kids not allowed to walk two doors down to catch the bus? Literally this bus stopped at a house then stopped two doors down. I thought you have got to be kidding; a little walk ain't that bad is it? They would have had to walk; oh I don't know an extra 35 - 50 yards.

Then I had a thought what about the kids that live so close to a school they have to walk? Maybe we should do away with that and bus everyone from their house. We could give every school one of those trams they have in the parking lot at Six Flags and they could go around to all the houses and pick the kids up. Since we don't want them to strain themselves with any walking we better get them all Segways to get around the school.

Or maybe those "walkers and car riders" could put a class action lawsuit together and sue the school systems for discrimination, now that would be funny!

March 15, 2008 - George Pierce Park

The BIG news this past week at Fusion Church was the announcement of our first annual Easter Egg Drop! If you are not sure what that is here is the breakdown. You go to a field, kids wait with anticipation, a helicopter flies over the field and drops about 25,000 eggs filled with candy and prizes, kids collect eggs. Pretty cool huh? When Fusion does something we do it BIG and when we say prizes in the eggs we are talking about Nintendo Wiis, ipods, Playstation Portables, TVs, and things like that. We hope to see you there on March 15, 2008 11:00am at George Pierce Park in Suwanee, GA.

The Time Has Come...

Ever since Millcreek Church became Fusion Church I have been in charge of picking up the donuts (notice spelling). Ever since I took over we have been getting them from the Dunkin' Donuts on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Rd (oh yeah I'm calling them out). Overall the service hasn't been horrible but it has been far from great. Let's review I have shown up at the agreed upon time and they had about 1/4 of the order ready, I have shown up and they had none of the order ready, I have shown up and they did not have any glazed or frosted donuts, and most recently (until today) we had a situation where they had nothing ready and said they didn't know about the order. I have toyed with the idea of leaving them but today was the kicker. They decided to charge me for three weeks worth of donuts today, yep today. So let me welcome Fusion Church to Krispy Kreme! Starting this Sunday our doughnuts (notice spelling again) will be coming from the Krispy Kreme on Hwy 20 near the Mall of Georgia. They even gave me a better price and hopefully the HOT sign will be on!

Anyone wanna go?

On March 15 there is a huge Christian Concert coming to Philips Arena called JamTour, the tickets are only $10.00 at the door. Is anyone interested in attending? It looks good with Mandisa, Skillet, and Mercy Me there. Check out the website, I know some of us have other commitments in the morning but this doesn't start until later on.

Should they count?

I have a goal to read 20 books this year, however I have also been listening to books on CD. My dilemma is should those books count toward the 20 or not? Oh the struggles I find myself in.

Willpower

Last night I went to an italian restaurant in Suwanee where they have some really good eatin'. I have been eating very well (healthy that is) since Jan. 2 and I have lost a few pounds. Last night they came with these garlic, buttery rolls that looked fantastic. Everyone at the table was just gobbling them up yet I resisted. I said no. Then they all got pasta with all this cheese and it looked real good but again I said no. I got a salad with warm chicken that was purely delightful. I say that to say I am proud of myself for not giving into temptation and eating stuff I have no business consuming.

Too Cool and Eye Opening!

Last night I was unable to go straight home as I have some people in town that I needed to entertain. After dinner I was driving home and the phone rang, it was Melissa. She said that Greg 2.0 had been asking about me and wanted to talk to me. He got on the phone and pretty much just said "hi" and got off, he just wanted to hear my voice. Then when I got home he came running to me, he waited up for me. He was so excited, he'll never know how much that meant to me and how excited that made me. This morning I was thinking about that and it hit me. I know the joy it brought me and I could only imagine that it is the same type of joy God feels when one of his children comes to him in prayer.

We should all approach prayer or shall we say a conversation with our father in heaven the same way Greg 2.0 approached me, with excitement and joy.

TONIGHT!

Tonight marks the long awaited debut of Power Rangers - Jungle Fury at 7:00pm on Disney's Jetix. Unfortunately I will be at another engagement during the premiere but that is why they made DVRs. I will watch it when I get home whether with Greg 2.0 or by myself. I really am looking forward to finally being able to be watch an entire season of PR from start to end.

Stepping it up!

I have made a conscious effort to start dressing better. It is going to take awhile to upgrade the wardrobe but it can and will be done. More dress shirts, more dress pants, more Dockers, better shoes, less jeans, and less t-shirts. I just felt it was time to step up the image. It is all in preparation for what I have planned down the line and plus it puts off a much more professional and respected image. I may even start wearing ties more often than I do now. I actually enjoy wearing ties especially the creative looking ones but in recent years the 'business casual' atmosphere has limited my ability to wear them. I am just going to buck the trend and wear them at least once a week. I know it will freak some folks out but hey ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I am excited about these steps and look forward to the coming months.

It's Time!

Tomorrow is the day, we kick off the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup season with the Daytona 500. As I write this the Nationwide Series is running and I can feel myself catching the bug. Last year I did not follow racing as much as I have in years past but I think I will get back in this year. I have already started looking into the schedules at Peachstate Speedway and Lanier National for what races I can attend this year. I may even try to get to the Atlanta race next month.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I have been a little slack with my holidays lately however we all know what today is....Valentine's Day. Make sure you get your significant other something and remember it is the thought that counts not the size or the cost of the gift. Have a great day!

The Leadership Lid

Have you ever heard of the Leadership Lid? Have you ever been in a company, on a team, in an organization, etc. that has so much potential but can't seem to get over the hump? Many times that is a result of your leader and the Leadership Lid. Your leader either can't lead you to the next level or is scared. Example is McDonald's, the McDonald brothers started the company and took it to one level then Ray Kroc bought the rights and he turned McD's into a mulit-billion dollar company. Then there was Google whose founders realized they did not have what it took to take Google to where they needed to go. They went out and partnered with someone that knew the financial side and could take them beyond there own capabilities. Now they are all billionaires. What does this mean? I say know your limitations and compensate for them by stepping out of your comfort zone, bring in talent that you can partner with and then take your team, business, organization, etc. to another level - a level you never thought possible.

A Taste of FUSION

Due to recent uncontrollable circumstances I missed two weeks at Fusion Church. I was feeling a little homesick but then I found a solution, I found Fusion in liquid form.
Well sort of...

Going Green...

Are you 'GREEN' I am proud to say I am. Well I don't have a hybrid (unless you include hybrid golf clubs) and I use more than one sheet of toliet paper but overall I am pretty GREEN. I recycle everything I can; cans, bottles, boxes, plastics, bags, sneakers, etc. Now my garbage company does make it easy with their pickup servcie but we should all try and conserve. I turn off lights whenever I can and soon I will switch my light bulbs to energy conserving bulbs. Before you start calling me a 'tree hugger' let me say the reason I have gone GREEN is not because I think we are causing Global Warming but because if it can be reused why not recycle it? We can save on landfills, conserve energy, and improve the air quality. As far as the whole Global Warming thing I think we can look at the fact it snowed twice in 7 days in Atlanta, China just had record low temps, and Chicago is getting snow like it was the North Pole and realize how warm the earth really is. I personally believe that man gives themselves way too much credit for something that was created and controlled by God. So bottom line is recycle what ya can and conserve where you can, not because you think you are controlling the weather but because it is the responsible thing to do.

Quik Hitz

Just some random Quik Hitz from the mind of RGT:
  • Modern medicine is amazing
  • True heroes reside in nurses and doctors
  • I like working from home
  • Doing employee reviews is not the most fun thing to do
  • Finshed yet another ook on my quest for 20 I am now up to 4
  • Bring It On: The Cheerbook Collection came Friday, I can smell an all day marathon coming soon
  • Thank you to everyone who prayed and kept Melissa in your thoughts over the past several days. You have no idea how much it means.
  • I lost my ipod, in his absence I have found the joy of having an mp3 player on my phone.
  • Even with everything going on I have stuck to my diet pretty well, even getting in 30 minutes of walking each day (except Friday)
  • My mind has been racing about some things I have planned, man is it gonna be cool.
  • Back to the nurses being heros thing, I witnessed them bring someone out of a flatline. That was scary but amazing at the same time. (it wasn't Melissa by the way)
  • Super Bowl is just a few minutes away as I write this and this is probably the least excited I have been in years about the game. I plan to watch and want the Pats to win but I just have not watched much NFL this season.
  • I missed church today but I went to service via Joel Osteen and the mgic of DVR. I did miss seeing everyone at Fusion though.
  • Alright I gotta go c-ya later.
